A very finely woven, smaller version of our Star Ushak, this
one measures about 63"x 114". The design is
inspired by
the
floral border that is seen in many Star and Medallion Ushak
carpets. This border has a blue ground and
an unusual corner solution for Anatolian designs with the blossom actually turned
45 degrees. Our carpet is based on a group of fragments owned
by the Bay Area collector Jim Dixon, who has been very
supportive of our efforts. These particular fragments,
with their high knot count, flawless drawing, and the
aforementioned corner
solution are thought be among the earliest known of the Star
Ushak type. We have also made several custom versions in
this size with a red border. |
